Mother’s Day Gift Guide 2022

As Ulta Beauty’s second largest retail holiday, Mother’s Day is a key time to inspire and engage guests. We create a smaller-scale, yet always elevated, gift guide that appeals to the emotional factor of the season and offers curated gift ideas for the mother figure in each guest’s life. I’ve served as the lead designer for the past 4 years and we continue to iterate and innovate each time. The Mother’s Day gift guide is also our opportunity to attempt and test new features that we hope to develop and incorporate into our holiday gift guide. For 2022, we unveiled our first gift guide within Ulta Beauty’s new CMS system, which required revised strategies and presented some extra build challenges, which will help inform planning and priorities once holiday work begins in the summer.


My Involvement

  • Market research, brainstorm, partner with multiple counterparts to develop marketing/product/design strategy

  • Wireframe/site map

  • Art direct external photo studio remotely; coordinate successful product hand-off, ideate all creative direction, create documentation for art direction, direct & collaborate with photographer/stylist

  • Design desktop/mobile pages

  • Evolve creative to align to new design system

  • Learn & build page within new CMS platform

  • Present final work to business counterparts & leadership

  • Partner with UX to create & conduct user tests

  • Aggregate user testing feedback and create a deck to share out

  • Partner with Digital Analytics to collect site data
